Wait, so how does that work? If electricity is $3 for 5 min and we use 1 kwh, then 2c for the next 10 minutes and we use 10 kwh per EA 5 min (not real numbers)... Do we get charged for 21 kwh at that 15min average? Roughly $1.01/kwh?
That is correct. Since usage data only comes from the meter in 15-minute intervals, we can only charge based on the 15-minute price.

So now matter how vigilant we are with our usage during demand? The data you give us is basically bullshit since we're gonna get boned on those charges anyway? Not as bad, but.... That's really shitty.

You would be getting boned by someone other than Griddy. My aim in all this is to get better actionable information . For example, it would seem that a running avg price (until the 15m settlement price is calculated) would be more relavant than a single price lookup.
