@GoGriddy Can you please add the ancillary services to the monthly chart so I can see how much per day?

Why were my ancillary costs more than my energy usage costs yesterday? Are you just averaging the ancillary costs amongst all users based on kWh or is it based on each 15 min increment for each individual customer? Do ancillary costs vary based on the price of electricity?

I figured it out. Griddy is buying Ancillary Services either day-ahead or monthly. Yes it does save money in the long run but it can sting in the short term.

How’d you figure that out? Ancillary Services is a significant charge (more than 15% of the total of what Griddy charged me for “wholesale” electricity) and needs greater transparency.

I talked to my energy rep who wrote my market rate contract. I have a 5 year contract and he negotiated my ancillary services so I just pay a flat per kWh rate base adder. Since Griddy's Ancillary Services rates are variable then they must buy them either daily or monthly.

We does not hedge any portion of our supply. That includes both energy and ancillary services. It is specifically because we don't hedge that we are able to operate on only $9.99/month as opposed to the $45/month that the average electric provider in Texas charges above wholesale
