Subtle distinction btwn specifying INF preference to coexist (which constrains where you should be placed) vs preventing placement with the resource we care about (pg primary). -INF meant the primary couldn't be placed, as it would violate the rule.

Yep! Our goal was to prevent the backup VIP from being placed with the primary, but it actually worked the other way round too- when the backup VIP existed on a node, the primary couldn't be placed there.

Hey, what RAID card are you all using? Or is it software raid on the machines? I've seen the simultaneous ejection of a lot of drives before, and there's a few things that can be changed on certain LSI (and related) cards that can be tweaked.
