    All awesome cooling solutions...but the road, the trees, and the surfaces of the buildings in that image can contribute a lot too! In places that need cooling services the most, those solutions are the most readily implemented and deliver real quality of life benefits.

    The 1995 Chicago heat wave helped spur cool roof and passive cooling policies in a number of cities. The tragedy of the NW Heat Dome needs to do the same. This NYer piece puts a human face on the disaster of extreme heat.

    GCCA is part of a diverse coalition that drafted a letter to national leaders highlighting how investing in heat resilience lets us build back better, generate huge economic benefits, and prepare our communities for heat stress.

    Why do we need more cool roofs? 1⃣ Saves 💵! Lower energy bills for building owner 2⃣ Slows climate change! Less cooling demand means less emissions, AND more light is reflected out of atmosphere 3⃣Adaptation & resilience! At scale, can cool areas in summer by several degrees
