Your right but the baker never hated them they could buy whatever they want just he was morally against making a gay wedding cake because in his religion that is a sin. His right to not do something based on his religious beliefs is protected by the first amendment.

And I agree with you that religion is pointless in this day and age. Until they remove religion from the first amendment then he's in the right.

I disagree, I personally think nihilistic thought is a choice. I'm an atheist, but I still believe in doing good for others. Because I don't think there's an afterlife, we should all try and make the world better, kinder place for the one existence we get.

I'm certainly willing to admit that I may be in the minority with this line of thinking, but I know quite a few atheists and they feel pretty much the same. I also don't feel any pressing need to know why we're here. I exist, that's good enough for me.

So I live my life in such a way as to reflect the kind of world I want to live in. Again, I may be in the minority.

Why do you assume that my belief is that nothing matters? Just because I don't think my actions determine what happens to me after I die doesn't mean I think they are meaningless.

The things I do and say impact the people around me - not after I'm dead, but right here and now in this life. Religion isn't the only source of morality in the world, and many religious people have lived highly immoral lives.

The idea that lack of belief in a higher power has only one inevitable outcome; selfishness, is ridiculous. It may be the case for some, but that can be said of believers as well.
