That's one approach. Mine was to let my kids have it at age-appropriate times, and monitor - spot check.

Of course.... I was answering a question asked to me about my family. One approach was the request. Carry on, warrior.

Lord, that never worked for us, ! Our kids seemed to turn out okay...so far, but parenting is so hard.

To be fair though, if they are all grown with their own families now, social media wasn’t the same thing then. Our middle school kids are given school laptops, email addresses, expected to use online collaboration tools to do their work.

I recently took a family access class at Apple Computer and it was eye opening. I discovered I was able to put limitations on websites and child protections in place that I had never known about. It was such a good experience for me as a parent. Thumbs up!

Our children don’t have social media but we’ve spoken to them about it as friends have it. We also made technology tickets, do a chore & earn tickets to play games on iPad for 1/2hr & not past 6:30pm chores, homework & outside play first....& the kids can entertain themselves 😉
