That you had to add one line at the bottom of that piece saying, effectively, ‘If the facts I’m checking change, just ignore what I said’ should have told you - & whomever was editing your work - the Post never should have ran that piece.

Buddy, you ran with the story and you should have turned it over to someone who really knows sexual assault. You had no proof that it didn't happen either. Most rapes aren't reported to anyone. If you were a woman, you might have known that.
