it may be that youtube doesn’t want to essentially be annoying and/or bother people if they don’t watch a channels content anymore. like if you don’t watch a channel but still subscribe (yet you’re not necessarily into their content anymore), youtube doesn’t send notifications.

That’s been their explanation but it’s problematic to both creators and subs for so many reasons & easy to avoid with a different system (asking level of notification wants upon subscription). Say someone’s studying for finals for a week & misses three uploads in a row from a

creator they enjoy watching & want notifications for. Youtube might assume they’re no longer interested in their content & choose FOR THEM to stop notifying them as often or at all. Say a creator takes a chance on a short mini-series a bit outside their norm... (my social media

how-to series is a good example of this). Anyone who isn’t interested in just that mini series might not watch those but still wants to see the rest but youtube may ASSUME they no longer want that channel’s content. Then they get the confirmation bias that they are no longer

interested in watching that channel because they havent because they’re not even aware they’re uploading content. I get told every video by at least someone that theyre glad I’m BACK. I never left. But they think I did because they stopped get notified I was uploading once a week

YouTube assuming for us what we want excludes so many real life occurrences that don’t actually negate someones interest in a channel. It forces youtubers to sensationalize their content, takes no risks, & appeal to the least common denominator (all while not ever taking a break)

Sorry, this was long winded. But that excuse they’re feeding people so everyone is really dismissive and part of why they’re failing to communicate with us even when they’re making a video in attempts to communicate with us. They might choose to ignore this entire thread but on
