It saves you the trouble of finding installation media, product keys, and multiple clicks/reboots requiring input though. Fire and forget.
If I can choose what files to keep that would be sick. There's just so much crap in there I don't need

It will keep everything if you choose to keep files, but in a folder outside Windows. Move what you want back, (backup!) & delete the rest.

When I reset mine, I take the approach of just reinstalling and copying what I need as I go. After a month goes by, nuke the copied folder.
