Dear people angry at game store exclusive, please realize: Steam's stranglehold on PC gaming is SO immense that you consider clicking on a different icon an unacceptable effort. This is exactly why a competitor needs the strength of exclusives to erode that unhealthy monopoly.

It’s another application I need to keep updated for security holes. It’s another user name and password I hope doesn’t get lost after a breach. It’s another service that needs a credit card that hopefully stays secure. Saying it’s clicking another icon is not the whole story.

Oh right I'm sure all the people review bombing Borderlands are doing it out of concern for IT security practices. Sure I'm being snarky, but that snark is much closer to reality than the idea one more password is the issue. It might be for you, I seriously doubt it is for many.

Also, if the consequence of not wanting a new account is staying in this monopolistic one store world forever, condemning developers and consumers to the whims of Valve, I think maybe your priorities need reevaluating my friend. :)

I love how you explain that the best way to give consumers choice is by locking games into exclusive deals on a single platform. If Valve turns around and starts signing deals to only ever be on Steam, we've now created the console wars where no needed to happen.

If your store needs exclusive games to force me to shop there, then it isn't good enough for me to bring my business there.

I don't think you understand the actual issue a monopoly creates (ask devs what they think of Steam, which is the only choice they have).

So your answer to a so-called monopoly is to create a situation where a consumer can only buy the product in a single place.

Ya know I’ve always been super upset I could never get a Big Mac at Burger King.
