I think they have had ample time. Look at Bethesda for example. Fallout 4 came out almost exactly 3 years ago. Fallout 76 is coming out soon. Diablo 3 came out in 2012. To use your analogy, yes you have to prepare the pizza first and cook it, but if you let it sit in the oven too long it's gonna get burned, ruined, and everyone in the house is gonna be mad at you for ruining dinner. Not to mention there's probably fire everywhere now
