Cameras do better in mist and frost than lidar actually. There's a reason waymo and other lidar users started most testing in Arizona and southern California

It's not about the 3D depth perception, there's nothing new about using cameras for that. The reason to use lidar is that it can see under conditions cameras cannot, such as dirty lenses, fog, at night (unless one uses IR sensors).
