It's not every day you get to share your story - but intern year during a pandemic is something amazing as well as incredibly difficult . Glad I was able to share mine today at the storytelling event.

This is still a huge issue for unaccompanied minors at our border, and has only been exacerbated by COVID-19. We need change!

What I have learned so far is that Internship is full of firsts - first US guided IV, first time managing eight ED patients at once, but also apparently first beekeeping experience! Thank you & for making my first month of residency unforgettable!

That helpless feeling when you want to stop the horrors, yell from the rooftops, join the protests- but also worry the protests will endanger black lives that are already disproportionately affected by COVID due to the same structural racism you want to condemn

Over 10 years ago I learned that I was living in America as an undocumented person. Yesterday I obtained my MD degree from Loyola Stritch School of Medicine as a new graduate & very newly minted legal permanent resident. 1/4

Today is my last day @LUCagainstCOVID. I will never forget watching as students set up telehealth visits for patients, provided thousands of masks to providers, brought food to those in need & so much more. Students can make a difference. Thank you all for reminding me of that

The strange combination of renewed meaning in the work we do everyday, with the heart wrenching grief that is everything else is real. Thank you Dr.Blair for expressing it so beautifully.

Immigrants regardless of status deserve to be treated humanely. Equal access to health and financial resources is the right thing to do. Thank you for leading by example Chicago.

But also for the few patients we warned the ED about before they arrived so our docs could see them safely. Thank you to those at the front line. This hotline is for you - we have your back .

Tonight I got home exhausted from another day at the COVID-19 hotline that @eakyar8 and I are running. And then I remembered the 1000+ calls our team fielded, and know that it was worth it to help the hundreds of sick and scared Chicagoans that called. P1/
