I think they were hoping that their naming convention would be popular, a lot of the characters in Mandalorian is just called "The Noun".

They nuked the extended universe so they were free to back-fill with something like "none of the Yodas use individual names, they always know who they mean by inflection and it all sounds like Yoda to outsiders".
