If you chose a cheaper cut of meat for the steak, you could probably get that down to the same price as the Big Mac But here comes the first enormous issue - which is cheaper on externalities???

Fair call. I just find it wrong to say it would take 20 minutes to get pasta to eat but a big mac is instant. In my world time and transport costs factor in. But exactly right on extra ingredients, I remember looking at a meal for under $5 recipe and they had red wine as a staple
