I've read that study. It was amazing nonsense. They used self-reported gun defense statistics from a small group of fervent gun owners and extrapolated that number to a meaningless yearly figure

I think we are both going to be hard pressed to find solid science to lean on here. Even the study that concluded a 43x increase death rate from firearms ownership was garbage, and you can't swing a dead cat without hitting someone espousing that study.
