There are also many countries with much more strict firearms laws, with much greater homicide rates. It may not be that firearms prohibition is a great indicator of homicide rate. Last I looked, US was 49th in homicide according to WHO numbers.

As I said, a complex issue. But the idea that restricting guns causes more homicides is quite clearly disproven by the evidence from every country that has done it
