All diets are likely roughly similar in terms of efficacy, it mostly comes down to calorie restriction, do whatever works best for you

For the average person, supplements are nothing but a waste of money. They are only tested in unhealthy people, and by and large they fail there too

Not really, sadly. There's meta studies looking at each individual supplement for each individual claim - an astonishing number find "not enough evidence to conclude either way" - but no one's done a review of reviews that I'm aware of

Check out cochrane, there are metas on all of those things: http://www.cochrane.org/search/site/multivitamin … The issue tends to be that they are tested in people with specific conditions, so claims about general health like "improves vitality" are never going to hold up to evidence

Fish oil in particular has a dubious past - there's reasonable evidence it reduces some cardiovascular events in people at high risk, but most other claims for it are not supported by evidence i.e. http://www.cochrane.org/CD005986/IBD_fish-oil-for-the-treatment-of-active-ulcerative-colitis …

I usually say that no one can speak to anyone else's personal experience, but when we look at the evidence from testing lots of people, on average we find no difference between it and no treatment
