I know of 6 other trials of diabetes remission with similar-or better- results than Virta using non-ketogenic diets. At least one was less than half the cost. Why would we choose Virta over another method?

Perhaps you could provide some links to them, as 94% off insulin is pretty standout. You also continue to ignore the lipid effects.

94% was for "reduce or eliminate" insulin. From the study, it appears that 13% got off insulin entirely. And as I've said, there's nothing special about the lipid changes, you see similar results in either of the two trials I've linked before

Sorry, but on this issue I think you are a shill. I cannot find anything close to the same results with other strategies. Very low calorie short term diets are a poor option and the lipid effects are unique to low carb diets. The CSIRO studies also show LC diets to be superior.

...you think someone's paying me to argue with people on twitter? Really?

You obviously feel rewarded for defending the status quo, just not living up the the "Nerd" part of you claim. We need advances and defending status quo when better alternatives exist is not helpful.

That's not an answer. Calling me a shill explicitly implies you think I'm being paid by a shadowy organisation to do this

It is an answer, rewards come in many forms. You were the the one that brought up the description. Patients have a right to consider promising options for treatment of diabetes and your writing dismisses them out of hand in an unbalanced way.

Uh, not really. You could say I'm biased or wrong. Calling me a shill is a pointless and wasteful insult that seems a poor way to end what had been a reasonable debate

I would have been better if you had not described yourself that way then. I am simply repeating your words.

I said people accused me of it. Mostly conspiracy theorists. Rarely specialist physicians
