Health Nerd Retweeted 7NEWS Brisbane
You can even see that in the interview with the lead academic here. Note how he steadfastly steers clear of any claim beyond "we've seen some cool stuff in our labs"https://twitter.com/7NewsBrisbane/status/995950047530369026 …
Health Nerd added,
Every time a cool new molecule with interesting lab results comes out, we get stories about how it's going to Prevent All Diseasepic.twitter.com/76UTTVxGwF
In a decade, we may be seeing one or two interesting treatments from these pre-clinical trials in cells in petri dishes Only about an 8% chance of that, but it's a chance
Nonsense quotes like this are irresponsible. The media loves them because it's an authority making a grand claim, but the reality is that this molecule will almost certainly go on to be another marginally effective treatmentpic.twitter.com/kcTgJKoUMq
Sounds a lot like the claims of a certain "longevity & cancer" researcher I come across often, who just happens to own a business selling "miraculous" meal substitutes. Wish I had a dime for every one of these I see.
Yeh. I honestly can't believe that someone would claim that their drug might be able to do all these things without a huge disclaimer right at the start that it's at least a decade away even if it works
In this case, it's a "meal replacement" so conveniently doesn't have to be regulated as a drug, even though they claim it's "better than chemotherapy." It's all about profit potential, I guess. Who cares about ethics anyway?
Well that's even worse, honestly. Sounds like bullshit that's getting by through regulatory loopholes
Yeah. Sadly, there's so much of that it's hard to even keep up. I think the regulators are vastly outnumbered by cranks, and increasing by the minute.
