Uh, are you saying that 1) Big Macs are low-carb 2) Being low-carb would make a Big Mac healthy?

No, I'm saying that big macs fit in the spectrum of what healthy people normally eat; they eat some bread, some cheese, some meat, a little veges at a meal. Not ideal for reversing disease, but I don't see why it's so much better to eat junk at home that we need to demonize them.

I mean, characterizing big macs as "some bread, some cheese, some meat, a little veges" is an interesting way to look at it. You could just as easily call fries "a little potato" and thickshakes "a bit of milk"

You can say the quality is degraded, and there are additives that might do harm if also present in every other food, but a Victorian workman would recognise a Big Mac as a meal.

Whereas they wouldn't see fries and desserts the same? I fail to see the logic there

Maye they didn't eat desserts for lunch in those days, in any case they would struggle to guess what many processed foods were made of, as do we all, but could easily identify most elements in a Big Mac

You think they'd struggle to identify the main ingredient in fries? I'm confused by that argument

Had you eaten chips made before the 1970s? I think anyone who had eaten chipped potatoes fried in tallow would in fact struggle to identify a modern french fry.

Whereas they would be able to identify a modern hamburger from a hand-ground meat patty? I'd say that argument applies just as readily to the big mac

Maybe. But isn't almost all the cheese eaten in the US processed? is the Big Mac really so different from meals regularly eaten at home there that it explains any health outcomes?

I'm still not understanding how that argument applies any more or less to the big mac than fries or dessert
