Prejudice? If he said he'd eaten the fries and all the desserts, I'd be more skeptical.
I mean, characterizing big macs as "some bread, some cheese, some meat, a little veges" is an interesting way to look at it. You could just as easily call fries "a little potato" and thickshakes "a bit of milk"

You can say the quality is degraded, and there are additives that might do harm if also present in every other food, but a Victorian workman would recognise a Big Mac as a meal.
