Not sure that the 2013 ADG, or earlier versions, are based on evidence. For example, some benefits of oats extrapolated to apply to other grains; similar situation for soy applied to other legumes. Assumptions that evidence from earlier ADGs correct & didn’t need reviewing.
I have ~far more~ professionals agreeing with me, they just don't jump into my mentions to do so lol. I'm also not going to do my own review of the evidence, I think the NHMRC has that pretty well covered and I don't have 2 years' of my life to dedicate to it anyway!

The NHMRC commissioned the work. DAA "got the gig" & then dietitian groups around the country "put in" for a piece & allocated a set of Qs to review. Now, I've not said this out loud before, but for at least the groups I was aware of, there were "first timers" doing the review

I think that pretty much covers it, doesn't it? You don't have time to read the actual science underpinning DG and make your own judgment or factor its history, but people's disagreement is "ignoring science". And it's OK because some people secretly agree with you!

I have to agree here Gid, it is disappointing looking through your feed to see if I've missed something...and there's quite a bit of "making fun of morons" and still ignores that there are people who HAVE read, studied and analysed the ADG that are offering "another perspective"

It's no surprise you have ~far more~ agreeing...that's kind of the problem

The point being that who agrees/disagrees with you on twitter is not a good measure of the robustness of an argument

I’m sure that many with vested interests in ADG agree w you & love your article. However, I feel you are being rather naive in your belief that bc NHMRC funded & ran the process, we should all just accept the ADG as gospel, & sit down & shut up.
Isn’t science abt questioning?

Have to agree with
@foodnuthealth here too Gid - even if freaking out slightly with the delivery *gulp* ...my agenda is to share what I have learnt so we don't "all have to trot through our own journey to get to the same end point" bc .... - Show replies
