I'll just slip in too....the food industry (and the DAA) love the "Pete Evanzes" bc it takes our focus to everywhere except the real problem - food industry power over policy, practice, evidence - and for the DAA...
I honestly don't think that's true at all. Certainly politicians do, in particular conservative politicians, but I don't know a single person who works in public health who thinks that 'personal responsibility' is a key factor in health

And wrt personal responsibility, I have some very strong opinions - here's my blog. Social determinants are also the focus of my PhD!https://medium.com/@gidmk/personal-responsibility-is-a-meaningless-term-8c1f7732993b …

Wait. Your subtitle says "health choices"? IOW, some people don't have the same "choices" as others? So we must help poor people get fresh produce & keep them away from soda? Because then they'll be able to make "healthy" choices? Ugh. Please tell me I'm misunderstanding.

If class/income/race/education have more to do with health than the ADG, why bother with them at all? Why not just focus on adequate essential nutrition? Not to mention that the science on which the DGA/ADG is founded is rife with class/race/gender issues as well.
-
Why should it be either/or? And science is not produced in a vacuum, of course there are issues. The question is always how/why that biases research, and what it means, not throwing results away wholesale

Let's just say it's something that my team is working hard on getting into the policy mix https://www.westernsydneydiabetes.com.au/framework-for-change/prevention-and-screening …
