You're thinking too specifically. Take a step back: what do you think the average person is currently eating? How might those recommendations change their eating habits?
We have had guidelines for a long time and population health is worse. You have to be specific in each of the recommendations, because there is evidence they are wrong and each error adds to the problem, like the 700% increase in T2D since 1958
Population health is absolutely NOT getting worse, particularly since the 50s. We are certainly shifting from a model of infectious to chronic disease (i.e. diabetes increasing), but that's not necessarily ~worse~, just different
Probably also worth noting that the Cochrane reviews didn't find "no evidence that grains are healthy", they found that the epidemiological evidence is currently too weak to draw definitive conclusions wrt cardiovascular and diabetes outcomespic.twitter.com/DzDafGYIhR
Do you think that this level of (lack of) evidence for whole grains is good enough to base firm population wide guidelines on and attack people who suggest avoiding grains? I don't.
