This reads like the most amazing piece of elitist nonsense. Not one of the proffered arguments holds the slightest water http://theconversation.com/cannes-is-right-netflix-movies-just-arent-the-same-95866?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=twitterbutton … via @ConversationEDU

Banning Netflix from Cannes is very obviously a choice by a threatened industry to devalue their competitor

This is clearly nonsense. Yes, Netflix films may use different cinematic techniques than traditional cinema, but to suggest that makes the slightest bit of difference in judging is just ridiculouspic.twitter.com/rvT6KrA4rB

These are the criteria for entry. Note that no mention whatsoever is made of any techniques used - this is all about preventing Netflix from competing for monetary reasonspic.twitter.com/QHG71HnHJu

And all I can say is the arrogance on display regarding non-cinematic media is...remarkablepic.twitter.com/aSfBRAZpaj

Netflix movies may not be "the same", but as someone who has watched quite a few in the last year, and not a single movie in the cinema, I can honestly say I much prefer them

Movies at the cinema are so expensive. If you know someone with huge screens and a great sound system willing to screen Netflix movies for friends on a regular basis, it's perfect.

Meh I'm usually happy to watch it in bed with my partner on my 13 inch laptop screen and save $50 on tickets!

I also like how you can make as many comments as you want at home with Netflix but at the movies you have to hold it all in until you're in the car. (Cause you might spoil it for the next group waiting outside).
