Like I get the opportunity to promote the story and my own news org. But the other orgs are getting my time and expertise on the case for free. And it’s exahusting. It’s really starting to feel exploitive.

I agree. When I did an interview for the BBC once, they paid me. No orgs in Australia seem to do this and I think it is exploitative. The odd radio interview is fine but when you build a show about other people's expertise, they should pay the guests

but we ask people all the time to do unpaid interviews as well? I guess radio panels/tv panels are a bit different...

But this is organisations who employ journalists asking other journalists to do their employed journalists work for nothing? As a freelancer I mostly say Yes because - *freelancer* - but as a staff journo working for another org, I think it should be very low (lowest) priority.

Anyway the best way to build your brand is to post pictures of your dog.

yes, I'm sure many many people read my work or hear me on radio and curse me for not having a tea-towel range.

Absolutely. I can't believe I have to dry my tea-set with an inferior brand when I could be using your face instead
