"Taken together, the weight of evidence for human studies supports the conclusion that PFOS exposure is a human health hazard,". From the US EPA - https://www.epa.gov/sites/production/files/2016-05/documents/pfos_hesd_final_508.pdf …

Mmmm but in this type of case it's always level of exposure. We've got a reference value of 0.07 micrograms per litre for drinking water, so double that is still a very conservatively low number. Worth investigating, probably not that alarming

And just recently New Jersey lowered their drinking water standard to 14 ppt from 70ppt. US EPA have just labeled PFOS as a “known reproductive toxin.”

And don’t forget 3M’s own evidence to the Aust Fed Senate Inquiry where they said PFAS “probably causes various cancers, more probably than not”. But hey, let’s listen to the ‘experts that are not effected or have a financial interest is saying ‘nothing to see here’

Just to check: are you implying that I have a financial interest in PFAS/PFOS? Because that seems remarkably stupid

Not at all. I’m suggesting some self appointed experts have established quite a lucrative business model denying any adverse health effects linked to PFAS.

      Replying to @tissa38 @carriefellner and

Lol. Well, obviously everything has adverse effects at some level. But the evidence suggests very strongly that at double the DoH reference level there'd be none

2012 the C8 Science Panel in the US found a ‘probable Link’ to the following diseases, Testicular Cancer, Prostrate Cancer, Kidney Cancer, Thyroid Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, high cholesterol and pregnancy-induced hypertension, kidney failure, miscarriage and birth defects.

Most of the evidence in those reports appears to have been considered by the EPA when setting their RfD. And the DoH reference range is orders of magnitude lower than even that

I know. And that's why I'm not worried about double the dose, because the dose is already extremely cautiously small
