Having read up on #cricketgate and why it's so bad that the dude rubbed some tape on his balls, I have a scientific question:
Is there any evidence that this 'tampering' does anything?
My thought is: the action of a ball hitting a bat at 150kmph+ is likely to cause far, far more difference in how the ball flies over time than scratching with tape

And other methods of 'cheating', like roughing up the ball with your fingernails etc, seem to also be pretty lacklustre when compared to the action of a massive wooden bat

The point being that if this form of cheating does not, in fact, confer an advantage, then these twats got caught buggering around for no reason at all

Imagine risking your incredibly lucrative professional career for nothing more than the vague promise of maybe doing slightly better
