It's not surprising that the occasional person lives for ages using natural therapies, because given a large enough sample size it'll happen all the time

Right. This is why we don't recommend. Just share case study & advise "Be sure to keep all of your health care providers in the loop..." Unfortunately, many CAM options, including all dietary supplements, are virtually unregulated in the U.S., yet still available.

There's also good evidence some complementary (NOT alternative) treatments are associated with better outcomes. I'm aware of recent study showing alt med alone is associated with worse outcomes.
