There is a strong and consistent causal association between a reduction in mass shootings and gun regulation. The original statement was factually inaccurate as demonstrated by best evidence

Moreover, the idea that you could somehow reduce school shootings by putting guns in the hands of untrained and inexperienced teachers is laughable. You'd likely just end up with more kids shot when they missed

Joe is proposing no such thing. Trained security personnel or existing staff with proper training would be providing the armed security. Moreover, their very presence would deter attacks. Note how there are no mass shootings at gun ranges or shops

...there have been many mass shootings in US shopping malls. You are wrong yet again. Just factually incorrect

Thanks for making my point. Most if not all US shopping malls are

If you keep plugging on with your own strawman then I'm just gonna move on. Gun-free zones are mostly ineffective registration of firearms and proper licensing a la Switzerland is a much better solution

Actually, the Swiss do seem to have a viable system in place. I think US needs something else, though. Check out this thought-provoking article https://mystudentapt.com/2015/10/06/theres-a-way-to-stop-mass-shootings-and-you-wont-like-it/ …

That's a cultural shift that would take generations to enact, if ever. You could implement a swiss style system tomorrow

Yes you could pass the laws tomorrow, but it wouldn't address the underlying cause. The monsters who commit these atrocities wouldn't suddenly disappear, they'd just acquire weapons through other channels. A Swiss-style system would only inconvenience law-abiding gun owners

A more viable alternative is to come to terms with the fact that these monsters exist, are very hard to detect/stop in advance, & they pick defenseless targets. The solution that one could implement tomorrow is to defend the targets

The rate of mass shootings in the US is more than the rest of OECD countries combined. Somehow it works well everywhere else

There are many demographic, economic, cultural, policy, & historical differences between US & the rest of OECD. Claiming there's a single law that would eliminate this problem is simply not credible

No one has ever nor ever will. Please stop putting words in my mouth. There are a suite of laws that could significantly reduce the impact of gun violence. This has been demonstrated time and again
