The NRA doesn't *invent* these points. They *use* them to their advantage. They're things gun owners already believe. The first three things you listed are great, but they won't solve mass shootings. Abusers and criminals need convictions to be considered such. 1/2

And "keeping guns out of schools" only works while a gunman doesn't *want* to shoot up a school. Laws aren't magic. Any law's effectiveness is measured by its enforceability. We need to focus on really fixing these problems, not just passing ineffective laws. 2/2

Ever wonder why the UK doesn't have the issue with guns and schools?

No. The U.K. has amazing socialized healthcare, including mental health. France also doesn't have this problem, yet has way more firearms than England. Numbers via The Guardian:pic.twitter.com/EQ47TFtvSN

I bet France would be even lower without guns. Makes you think.

They're THE SAME AS ENGLAND, but with far more guns.

Sounds like you're arguing for the US to adopt the French system of gun control

I'm arguing for the US to adopt the French system of healthcare, taxation, wages, benefits, retirement, prisons, justice system, etc.

It'd certainly be a massive improvement. And a good start for gun control.

Thing is, if we did those things, our numbers would end up just like France's regardless of the guns.

Nah nonsense. France has a rigorous and restrictive gun control system - it's not all about gun numbers, it's access to ammo, policing, licensing, domestic violence etc.

Guns can't kill people by themselves. They require a person. People in a system such as France's are far less likely to *want to* shoot other people. If people don't want to shoot other people, they tend not to.

Complete hogwash. You can't just ignore the impact of laws that you don't like. France has enormously restrictive gun control when compared to the US
