Here's the study. Questionnaire-based observational trial that checked in on mums and bubs at 8 weeks and 12 months http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/dar.12473/full …

Their main findings were a) rich people were more likely to drink and b) mothers generally used strategies to stop babies getting any booze through breastmilk

In other words...it's ok for breastfeeding mothers to drink, so long as they make sure their infants don't get booze as well. Or to quote the fucking lead researcher...pic.twitter.com/gMqA2qX9XD

Oh man I'm implying so many, many things. SES is an important factor in babies health. Booze is probably still not great for babies. And yes, self-report on exhausted parents probably not 100% accurate lol

That's exactly it! Not that you ~can't~ do it, but that it's good to be aware of risks and manage them. That's even what this research suggested
-
And yet, headlines are "it's fine to drink whilst breastfeeding don't worry"

That's a common "home remedy." And it hasn't been entirely debunked. There's limited (VERY limited, weak) evidence for Brewer's yeast in boosting production. Problem is that the alcohol itself depresses the letdown reflex. Effects prob cancel out.
