Food is medicine like air/water/etc is. You don't have to label something "medicine" to acknowledge that it's important to health

Unfortunately, In r world of health disparity, Access to clean water, air & healthy food can be medicinal

In eating disorder Rx paradigm, food=medicine. In some IBD Rx paradigms too. But generally, I consider eating patterns more as lifestyle

But would you consider the food itself, or rather the intervention that changes eating behavior as medicine? I'd argue the latter

Yeh you're right there are certainly specific indications where food could be considered a medicine in and of itself

chia/avocado/pomegranate/kale/goji berry salad? not so much

But also just food in general, really. A diet plan (for example) can be medicine, but calling every salad medicinal is a bit of a stretch

meh ... we've evolved to do just fine with VAST variety of feeding patterns. It's mainly overconsumption of salt/fat/sugar that's killing us

Yes, there are metabolism disorders like phenylketonuria. But diet does not even them. It is just staying away from the wrong products.
