If 600 patients have suicided out of millions of users, that's significantly lower than the background rate of suicide.

So you'd assume that Chantix was PROTECTIVE of suicide if that's the case

These are suicides that are known to have been CAUSED by Chantix, irrespective of baseline.

No, the number of REPORTED cases. An uncontrolled database of people who suicided at some point after Chantix.

We know much more from their stories than that. You deliberately throw away information, which is not scientific.

Stories are a great starting point. Then you have to go and test whether they are true. We all have stories.

If you think patients have lied you can find out by checking the stories. An RCT won't do it.

I don't think anyone has lied. I think that there are 1000s of factors that you haven't controlled for.

Your evidence is essentially a study, just one done without any control whatsoever.

It's a different question. Yours is: Is the risk of Chantix low enough to be acceptable? RCTs+observational good for that.

My question is; does Chantix increase the risk of suicide? To which the answer is demonstrated to be no.

Not true. You can't demonstrate a no. You can only show that the risk is too low to be identified in the data.

But we know that, though low, it's not zero. Because it has happened at least once. Note: one anecdote proves existence.
