Me too! But I think the private/public divide is very grey and one of the areas we really need to improve.
having worked in both, I see them as complementary. Joe Blow can walk into any hospital and get world class "free" treatment.
But private hospitals tend to only do lucrative procedures, which means that a lot of private patients get pushed back to public
not in my experience. I do all the standard ENT cases in the private.
I've seen it happen a lot with the less lucrative procedures like bronchs and higher risk surgeries.
the private complements the public. They're 2 different tools I can use to effectively and timely treat patients.
I think at best that does happen, but often it's not the case, partly because there's no clear separation btwn the two.
