Can't wait until the pandemic is over and I have to fly 24 hours across the world to pin up a poster and sleep my way through 3 days of presentations again

By my estimation, every conference has about 3 hours of really useful, high-value content (mostly a combo of the PhD student presentations and the new RCT results) combined with a lot quite boozy networking

Aside from the whisky tasting, I think it's important to realise that every virtual conference "solution" I've attended has been a woefully awful user experience. And it's also harder to "multitask" and do work on your other screen while sitting in a conference hall.

I've been to a range now and some have done it really well. The best was the American Diabetes Association, who got a really professional setup where I genuinely had a better experience than most in-person conferences I've attended
