Agree wholeheartedly. I've been a bit busy with all the rampant fraud, but I did quickly read that ivermectin/sperm count study and it doesn't prove anything, certainly not that ivermectin causes sterilityhttps://twitter.com/EdCara4/status/1435800474276573184 …

There's also no control group, so my guess would be that the authors were surveilling a very unwell population who happened to be taking ivermectin. Hard to tell if the medication contributed to that at all

From my cursory look, only spotted one animal study suggesting any possible risk to sperm either, and others that found no effect at all

On the one hand, it's not necessarily a common side-effect to look for unless you're really concerned about the mechanism, but on the other the drug has been given to A LOT of people so if there's no safety signal you'd err on the side of low risk I think

The irony was too good for it not to be shared. Especially after the false claims that the vaccine causes fertility issues. But Sharing low quality research might damage Parasite treatment programs in developing world

I really feel like it's not widely realized that a lot of studies are just "I saw this thing? Is this anything?". And usually it's nothing or you weren't looking at it right to begin with. But not always and that's why we keep doing it.
