With recent news, thought I'd repost this old article that I wrote on the scientific evidence on banning abortion Long story short - abortion bans don't stop abortions, they only stop SAFE abortionshttps://gidmk.medium.com/abortion-bans-dont-work-2c9fff7bb025 …

The reason for this is quite simple - if you're desperate, it's not that hard to abort a baby. Here are some ways the WHO identified that women have tried where abortion bans have been enactedpic.twitter.com/cyxteHYkbg

The TX law isn't a ban. It simply states that no abortions after a heart beat is detected. If one is worried use contraception and take a $5 pregnancy test every 3-4 weeks.

The question to me really comes down to whether you care about the evidence, which shows that bans such as those used in Texas don't work, or ideology, in which case it's largely not about saving lives either way

TX should offer free birth control (like California) and year supply of pregnancy tests. If you are mature enough for sex you should be able to take the pill/and or complete the test. I'd also argue it works. Fewer abortions will be performed.

Read my article - evidence shows that fewer safe, medical abortions will be performed, but it is not hard to perform a very dangerous/life-threatening abortion on yourself if you are desperate
