The reason for this is quite simple - if you're desperate, it's not that hard to abort a baby. Here are some ways the WHO identified that women have tried where abortion bans have been enactedpic.twitter.com/cyxteHYkbg

Depends on what you mean exactly by 'abortion ban' but 'restrictions don't stop abortions' and 'restrictions only stop safe abortions' combined would suggest safety of the procedure is not an important factor for people deciding to get an abortion or not. Seems implausible?
"Many people getting abortion are desperate for abortion and safety is a secondary concern" is certainly true. But it is not contradicting with "Many people who would have received abortion when given a safe opportunity don't/can't."
I enjoy your stuff about ivn, and I've learned to look at the who is running the study and their biases. That being said, the studies you cite have a vested interest to show legality had no effect (looking at the researchers' websites).
Just like it seems impossible masks don't help (they at least stop sneezes), laws will change some women's mind (true, not desperate cases).
