        Why should anyone be surprised that people who have trouble affording even food tend to also lack adequate testing and to die in obscurity? The same story will be found everywhere with great poverty.

        The only "upside" is that the poorest countries tend to have younger populations on average (low life expectancy), which should reduce the natural IFR for COVID significantly (though up against the offset of poor medical care for severe cases)
