    Health Nerd Retweeted Kyle Sheldrick

Most ivermectin analyses showing massive benefits are trivially useless, but they are widely shared and cited because they fit a narrative It's really quite depressing to seehttps://twitter.com/K_Sheldrick/status/1432589368762331137 …

This is a great example of what's wrong. - The data is obviously not correct to even 30 seconds of checking - The method claimed by the author doesn't resolve these issues. A lot of dramatic pro-IVM material is shared because it fits a narrative, not an because it's quality. https://twitter.com/PierreKory/status/1432556944854765571 …

Yes, Ivermectin fits a mental need ("individually obtainable medicine will fix this"), helping to sustain a worldview faced with an unexpected destabilizing setback (a pandemic, what causes it, having to deal with it sociopolitically, adaptation, self/collective care, etc.).

Can recommend the work of French psychiatrist Joseph Gabel to make sense of it. Events that destabilize "privileged systems" and that are difficult to explain from within a particular/dominant worldview produce responses like this (social-scale, collective hallucination).

Have you ever found strong evidence about IVM being the peak-crusher as some like to describe ? I keep hearing this but cannot find proper reading, studies or anything that could confirm this. #HCQWithARevenge

Give it time, it will get worse. “It’s the Sun” climate change deniers sometimes just tweet photos of the Sun, so I reckon there will be that level of stupid if we just wait long enough (perhaps a few weeks).

“they are widely shared and cited” Yup. It’s almost like those sharing are seeking validation rather than information? I mean, maybe, just kinda, sorta like they have no interest in counterfactuals.
