Now, this is interesting. Everyone should pay close attention to point #2. If you are hiring a prominent law firm to 'find bad stuff', then you are in the *exact dead opposite reality* of how allegedly star faculty are normally treated. This is very unusual. https://twitter.com/blsabatini/status/1429067036198686727 …

Normally, the lawyers are hired to make the allegations go away - to put an NDA in place, to organise a payoff 'without admission of guilt', to gather opposition evidence on accusers. I looked up this firm. They prominently feature Title IX investigations. They look fancy.

Normally, these are the forces deployed ***against*** complainants in the three primary areas, and ***supporting*** the guy with the 39-member lab! Where do we see them? Cases on: (1) research integrity (2) regular abuse / unsafe work env. etc. (3) sexual harassment / sex crime

I am speculating now: Something very bad, or very insidious, or very well documented happened here. Universities do not subject their special little princes to scary lawyers, hitting their own reputation, their grant money, their ability to maintain labs/grads with A REASON.

*WITHOUT a reason, of course. Slow brain day.

Apparently this is unrelated to research misconduct? I'm inclined to believe it. The allegations are up to two years old, and they don't suddenly become relevant when they're that stale. This is something else.https://forbetterscience.com/2020/01/29/david-sabatini-tormented-by-steaming-turds/ …

I should add: I know of at least one case where an abused lab member went on an (anonymous) campaign to uncover all the research misconduct in a former place of work as redress. (Note: this wasn't gratuitous. The allegations, as far as I could tell, were well-evidenced.)

Man that third point. Presumably if you have 100 students who love you that makes the sexual harassment of one person totally fine

Many people like me, Gidleborg. This is why I call you a big dumb shiny granite outcrop, and it's both necessary and desirable.

Many people like me too, which is why when I wish a horde of fire ants to set up shop in your voluminous nose holes after mistaking them for a small forest it's totally ok
