Twitter, what say we about a clinical trial with 15 authors, only one of whom appears to work at either of the institutions that the study took place in?

It’s a paradigm to prioritize the laboratory leads over the actual clinical investigators who do the work.

In this case, doesn't appear to be - most of the authors seem like people who are totally unconnected with the study

Btw I feel bad for being snarky. I love my lab buddies. What I should have said is authorship norms are stupid and never represent the true value of a study or the heart and soul of everyone who works on it. As for this scenario- sounds sketchy!

Nah, it's definitely the reality in research, you put people on papers for reasons other than authorship because we place a value on being "an author" that we shouldn't. The whole thing is dumb
