New rule: you can only say NSW should be in a harder lockdown if you can provide at least one (1) additional restriction that is supported by data that demonstrates said measure would reduce COVID transmission.

This type of NSW mentality will see cases rise with no peak in sight. Obsession not to be Victoria has stuffed ya

I completely disagree. The differences between the lockdowns are extremely minor, and in practice NSW is almost identical to the implementation in Victoria last year

      Wow, that's embarrassingly factually incorrect.

Night time curfew. City wide 5k travel movement. Retail stores actually closed. 1 hour outside activity. Yes, not identical at all.

In practice most of Sydney does have a 5km radius at this point (or 10km). I can confirm stores are indeed closed, and activity outside is indeed limited substantially. The wording may be a tiny bit different, but curfew aside almost identical

Conversely, in Sydney there are now a number of interventions that Victoria never implemented, such as the increased testing of various suburbs to go to work or leave the LGA

The people in the 8 LGAs have a much harder lockdown than in Melbourne. The tradies can’t leave their lga to work. The people are doing it tough and doing their best. Have some respect for them and differentiate them with the politicians.

Vic had/has mobile testing teams that would knock on people’s doors to get the tested as well as ramping up testing in areas of concern. I had one within walking distance of me for weeks. There is a lot to be done with industry, reducing capacity and introducing shifts.

This is a waste of resources. Faster turnaround for symptomatic and known contacts would be far more effective. What is the probability of finding a case in asymptomatic individuals I ran the numbers in the peak in Victoria last year it was 1-2 in 100,000 at best.
