Fun fact: turns out you can say "We used Cochrane methodology" on your systematic review and get it published even if that is totally untrue. Peer reviewers apparently don't even check!

Cochrane has published data on how to conduct analyses. It was a large effort to educate and try to coordinate science research so that meta-analyses are meaningful to science and the public. Institutions are free to use or not. So many studies are just junk science.

The point is that someone claiming to use their methodology are probably ... not using their methodology. Unless it's actually Cochrane. It's very distinctive and far different from any other type of review.
