My understanding is that effectiveness refers to the probability of having symptomatic Covid. Is that correct? You could still have Covid and not know it because you're asymptomatic? Do we know the overall protection against infection? Symptomatic or not?

An infection in vaccinated will mostly not cause a symptomatic disease. A infection in non-vaccinated will often cause a symptomatic disease. We should talk about disease and disease-prevention, because only vaccinations can reduce the number of diseases.
