Something worth noting - no matter how you look at it, the research community has royally fucked up when it comes to ivermectin

Yes, there are endless terrible trials, but we've had 18 months. WE COULD'VE RUN GOOD TRIALS We didn't. That is woeful, and frankly inadequate

We spent endless billions researching hydroxychloroquine, and knew by August 2020 that it didn't work, but ivermectin which has been given to 100s OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE...still no answer. Shameful

And the worst part is that this all seems to be because ivermectin was mostly used in low-income areas, and most research has been done in high-income areas. Until British doctors started advocating for it, ivermectin was ignored

I agree it's an absolute scandal and utterly mystifying.

Clarification: we knew within the first 48 hours that the initial confidence was wildly overheated, and there has been little good evidence for it in the interim. So we've known there was *no evidence it worked* before we knew it *didn't work*.

Unfortunately, at this point, I'd be willing to bet there is unpublished data deep in the merck archives that found its probably unsafe.

I would argue that we actually *do* know, with approximately as much certainty as we had a year ago for #HydroxyChloroquine, that #Ivermectin almost certainly doesn’t work. Low prior probability + equivocal clinical trials = doesn’t work.

Admittedly this is just my anecdote, so take it with a grain of salt, but I haven't seen much efficacy from Remdesivir either. Dexamethasone seems to remain the most clearly efficacious medical treatment. But at least with COPD cases, azithromycin does seem to help.
