Something worth noting - no matter how you look at it, the research community has royally fucked up when it comes to ivermectin

Yes, there are endless terrible trials, but we've had 18 months. WE COULD'VE RUN GOOD TRIALS We didn't. That is woeful, and frankly inadequate

We spent endless billions researching hydroxychloroquine, and knew by August 2020 that it didn't work, but ivermectin which has been given to 100s OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE...still no answer. Shameful

And the worst part is that this all seems to be because ivermectin was mostly used in low-income areas, and most research has been done in high-income areas. Until British doctors started advocating for it, ivermectin was ignored

to a certain extent I think we've been limited by available human resources -only so many people who know how to run a good clinical trial available but seems likely there's also been terrible mismanagement of the resources available

and also worth considering whether we should overbuild clinical trial capacity for emergencies...not entirely sure how that would work tho

Did the preliminary data warrant it though? Every massive trial has a cost, and an opportunity cost.

Perhaps not, but once it was clear that it was being used as a treatment for millions worldwide I cannot understand why people would not trial it properly

Bottom line is, it's an extremely safe drug that has shown efficacy across the disease spectrum, which is more than can be said for any other treatment or vaccine currently authorised for use against covid. We're at war with covid and you don't have time to wait for the very best

Level of definitive evidence when you're at war. You work as quickly as you can with what you have. In that sense, IVM is an absolute gift that western governments would have pounced on over a year ago if their sole interest was ending the pandemic. That there is still any doubt
