People have claimed that ivermectin is 100% effective as a prophylactic for COVID-19 based on an observational trial of the drug I'm extremely concerned about this trial. It definitely should not be used as evidence for anything 1/npic.twitter.com/G61i7hI6Eo

Is there any evidence this is a real research group? This looks completely fabricated on first glance. They didnt even bother to remove the “series1” and “series2” defaults from their excel graph?

I confirmed it is in fact real & just corresponded with one of the investigators. I won't get into the privileged conversation & will only add they acknowledged there were some issues and inexperience involved ... I will leave the merits and conclusions for others at this point.

You mean they said it was real? Or did you confirm it in some other way? If so, what way?

Well real is relative to the research study not being fake. I just confirmed that investigators did in fact do the study and the journal (despite how obscure) is also apparently real. Whether the results are “real” and being interpreted correctly is a different story.

How did you confirm it? (This was my question.)

All the caveats and issues (problems) discussed in this thread on the actual science, data collection and interpretation however remain in question.

Well, @GidMK 's point is that the inconsistencies in the way the data appear in different places of their own paper is basically not something that ever happens with real data. So hearing that they vouch for the data doesn't really reduce any of my doubts about the paper.

Can't speak for anyone else, but the only thing that would reassure me with these inconsistencies is access to raw anonymized patient data and the full study protocol and approved ethics application
